Mes Tin Ammo is on Plakias beach, a wide sandy bay on the south coast of Crete backed by mountains. The beach is organised with sunbeds and umbrellas, and a row of restaurants and bars runs along the road behind it. Local guides put the standard rate on this beach at six euro for two sunbeds and a parasol, with some venues issuing a voucher for that cost against a drink purchase. Because the bay is open to the Libyan Sea, afternoon wind and swell are common here. The village itself is small and walkable.
