Lido Porta del Sole occupies a plot on the beach at Marinella di Selinunte, in the shadow of one of the more extraordinary settings for a swim anywhere in Sicily: the Doric temples of the Selinunte archaeological park stand on the bluff immediately behind the shoreline. The beach is fine sand, wide, and backed by low dunes, and because the archaeological zone blocks development the strip stays far quieter than its equivalents further east. The lido is a substantial operation by the standards of the village, laying out more than eighty umbrellas and over 160 sunbeds, with canoes available for hire. It has not joined the online booking platforms, and the domain listed for it does not currently resolve, so opening times, tariffs and house rules need confirming by phone.
