Lido San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is a long, fine-sand beach south of Noto, roughly half an hour by car from the town, sitting just below the Vendicari nature reserve. The sand is pale and firm at the waterline and softer inland, the seabed is sandy rather than rocky, and the water reads turquoise to green with visibility several metres out. The lido operates on two tiers: the standard Classic beach, and Plus, which adds larger loungers, pagodas, a reserved quiet area, hot showers and a welcome drink. Beach places are booked online only, and no prepaid food or drink credit is charged, so you are free to eat wherever you like. Food runs from a snack bar with rotisserie and gelato counter to a veranda restaurant open for both lunch and dinner, with an app for ordering to your sunbed. The practical side is handled unusually well: parking can be reserved online alongside your place, a partner coach service runs several departures a day, the beach is cardioprotected with a defibrillator on site, and live webcams let you check conditions before setting out. Animals are not admitted apart from guide dogs. It suits people who want full beach infrastructure rather than a wild stretch of coast.
