Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is on the fine golden sand at Lido di Noto, the beach settlement about eight kilometres down from baroque Noto itself, on the Blue Flag stretch of the Syracuse coast. The signature is architectural: a row of thatched pagodas standing directly on the sand rather than the usual grid of parasols, which gives the place a distinct silhouette and a good deal more shade than a standard umbrella. The sand is fine and pale and the water off this part of the south-east coast is clear and calm. The club works as a full restaurant and pizzeria as much as a beach, cooking Sicilian dishes and pizza with tables set out facing the water, and the bar runs from breakfast coffee through to cocktails at the end of the day. The name is not accidental; the orientation and the open horizon make this a place people stay at for the last hour of light. Practical provision covers hot showers, wifi, parking, a children's play area and organised entertainment, with gluten-free options on the menu. Dogs are welcome. Hours are a straight eight to eight, every day.
